The common regulations for Doctorate Degree programmes specified in Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology [MMUST] School of Graduate Studies shall apply.

i)   Applicants for the degree of PhD in Environmental Science will be required to have a Master’s Degree or its equivalent in Environmental Science or Studies, Biochemistry, Ecology, Environmental Education, Natural Resources Management, Social Sciences, Water Resources Management, Earth Science, Geology, Ecosystem Health, Health Sciences, Environmental Health, Veterinary Sciences.

ii)   Holders of other degrees who do not have a sound grounding in Environmental Science at MSc level will be required to audit courses in Master of Science in Environmental Science that may be relevant to their chosen field of study.

Minimum requirements:

A candidate must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements:

i)   KSCE Mean Grade of C+ (plus), with at least a C+ (plus) in Mathematics andPhysics/Physical Science, or

ii)   KACE with at least 2 Principles passes in Mathematics and Physics and 1 subsidiary pass, or

Minimum requirements:

a) Mean grade of C+(plus) in KCSE or its equivalent as determinedby the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC)

A minimum grade of C(plain) in KCSE and C(plain) in Maths and English/Kiswahili, D+ in Biology .D+ in Physics or physical science, chemistry or computer studies OR certificate in any related course from a recognized institution.

21 Diploma in Environmental Health

Minimum requirements

A minimum mean grade of C- in K.C.S.E or its equivalent with a minimum pass of C- in: English or Kiswahili, Biology or Biological Sciences AND

A minimum pass of C- (minus) in any two of the following: – Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Sciences, Building Construction or Technical drawing

A certificate in Public Health Technology from recognized institutions and a mean grade of C-(minus).

  • Kshs 2,000/= (post-graduate programmes).
  • US dollars 50 for non-Kenya
