Maasai Mara university Academic Programmes offers postgraduate, undergraduate and diploma level academic which are  distributed in five different schools, namely: School Of Natural Resources, Tourism And Hospitality (4 Departments), School of Education (2 Departments), School Of Pure, Applied And Health Sciences(4 Departments), School of Business (2 Departments) and  School of Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Creative Industries  (3 Departments).

These programmes are offered after a thorough demand assessment, and are responsive to community needs and give the students and the community the capacity to solve real-life and day to day social, economic, livelihood and environmental challenges.

General Minimum Admission Requirements

Applicants admitted into programmes offered at Maasai Mara University must meet the following general minimum entry requirements in addition to specific subject requirements for each programme.

Minimum mean grade of a D+ at KCSE or equivalent

1 year Diploma programmes require a minimum mean grade of C plain at KCSE

2 year Diploma programmes require a minimum mean grade of C- (minus) at KCSE

3 year Diploma programmes (Diploma in Primary Education /Diploma in Secondary Education) require a minimum mean grade of C+ at KCSE

In addition, applicants must meet the specific subject requirements for each programme

A Diploma in a relevant field of study from a recognized institution.

Q. Does MMARAU show preference in the admission process for students who have demonstrated interest by visiting, calling and emailing?

A: Not at all. Contacting the Admission Office is neither a requirement nor an advantage in our admission process. We offer campus tours and information sessions to provide you with the information you need to make an informed campus choice, not to evaluate you. Please do not feel compelled to contact us to demonstrate your interest in MMARAU; we know by the very fact of your applying that you are seriously interested in MMARAU. We do not keep records of prospective student contacts with our office.

Q. Would be attending MMARAU summer programs improve one’s chances for freshman admission?

A: We do not have a preference for students who attend MMARAU specific summer programs, but overall, engaging in enrichment opportunities and advanced courses may demonstrate your enthusiasm for learning and discovery. The fact that you are taking summer or enrichment programs is not in and of itself the value-add to your application; it is what you take from that experience, how you share that experience with us through your essays and how that experience has enhanced your intellectual life that is of importance.

Q: Does the University admit international students and what is the cost?

A: The University admits students from all nationalities. The Tuition fee for international students (excluding East African Community citizens) is 30% higher.

Q: How do I apply to Maasai Mara University and what are the requirements?

A: To apply for admission to Maasai Mara University Download the application forms, pay the required application fees and submit a duly filled form to the Registrar (Academic Affairs).

Q: What is the admission criteria for postgraduate degree and how much does it cost.

A: Applicants for a master’s degree should have a minimum of an Upper Second Class Honours degree in the relevant discipline from Maasai Mara University or an institution recognized by Maasai Mara University. Persons with Second Lower Class Honours with two years of relevant work experience are also eligible for admission. Applicants for Doctor of Philosophy should have a Masters degree from Maasai Mara University or any higher, accredited institution of higher learning.

The cost for Postgraduate programmes annually is subject to periodic changes, the fees currently are available on the website.

Q: Does the University offer bridging courses and will they assist me to get admitted?

A: The University offers bridging courses in Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Note that bridging grades do not guarantee admission. For more information refer to the respective department through the School’s website.

A: The University provides accommodation on First Come First Served Basis. For details on the type and cost of rooms check Students Directorate services.

Q: Does Maasai Mara University accept inter-university Transfers?

A: Yes but this depends on the availability of space and attainment of the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) Cut off Point in the respective programme. However, the procedure for applying is as follows:

Write to the JAB secretary, through the Vice-Chancellor/ Principal of the University where you are transferring to, through the Vice-Chancellor/ Principal of the University you are transferring from.

A: While on-campus housing is limited for everyone, there are many opportunities off-campus.

Q: How can I pay the application fee?

A: Duly completed application forms should be returned to any of the offices indicated above, accompanied with a non-refundable fee of Ksh.500/= for Certificate and Diploma courses, Ksh.1,000/= for undergraduate programmes and Ksh.2,000/=for Postgraduate programmes.
