Knec contracted professionals 2021

The Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) will contract close to 286,000 professionals to administer the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams; which will be done in March/April this year (2021).

 According to the latest guidelines by Knec, those interested are expected to apply online by February 25, 2021.

 “An estimated 286,000 field officers will be engaged on agency basis to facilitate in the conduct of exams in the field. The field officers contracted for administration of exams will be expected to register online using the contracted professional CP2 system by February 25,” says the Council through a five-page document detailing the preparations that have been put in place to ensure the exams run smoothly.

 In 2019 exams about 170,000 professionals were contracted.

List of Centre Invigilators and Supervisors

The contracted professionals who include Centre Managers (Principals and Head Teachers), Supervisors, Invigilators and Security Personnel are expected to update their details online and download their invitation letters at https://cp2.knec.ac.ke/Professionals.

 Deployments are being done by the Ministry of Education Sub County Directors of Education and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Sub County Directors in every sub-county. Nominated professionals shall then be notified via SMS and/or email as soon as the exercise is complete.

 The Council will then post the list of selected invigilators and Supervisor(s) for particular Centres/ schools on respective school’s account in the Knec portal. Centre managers (school heads and Principals) will then be able to log onto the portal and check the list. The list contains the names of the contracted professionals, positions ( Centre Manager, Supervisor or Invigilator) Gender and National Identity Card (ID) number.

Also to be available on the portal are: Examination Centre details (Centre code and name), Location of centre , Examination materials Distribution Centre Details, Distance from the Distribution Centre and the registered number of Candidates.

How to access the list Knec Contracted Professionals list

To get the list of contracted professionals, assigned to your school, use the procedure below;

  • Log onto the KNEC contracted portal by using the official address; https://cp2.knec.ac.ke
  • Enter the User Name (Starting with KCSECentre code) and password (Specific to each centre and held by the centre manager).
  • Next, input the approximate distance between the centre/ school and exam distribution centre.
  • Then log onto the centre’s account.

How contracted professionals can update their data online.

To update your contracted Professionals’ data, you are expected to;

  1. Visit the KNEC contracted professionals’ portal by using the address/ URL; https://cp2.knec.ac.ke
  2. For a new user, click on ‘CREATE ACCOUNT’ tab.
  3. Then, enter your mobile phone number in the format 2547….., confirm the mobile phone number (by re-entering it) and click on ‘CREATE ACCOUNT’.
  4. You will receive a successful account creation message on your window.
  5. Your User Name and Password will be sent to the Phone number that you registered.
  6. Now log onto the Portal by entering your User Name (which is in the format) 2547….. and your secret password. Enter them into home page at https://cp2.knec.ac.ke and click on ‘LOG IN’.
  7. Once logged in, Provide your personal and other required  information like: Full name, Year of Birth, Gender, National ID Number, KRA PIN Number, Email, Highest Qualification, Current Work Station and Next of Kin Details. Then click on ‘SAVE’.

How Knec Contracted Professionals can Download their Invitation Letters

To download the knec Professionals’ contracted letters, use the procedure below:

  1. Log onto the knec contracted professionals portal by using the link; http://cp2.knec.ac.ke/Professionals.
  2. Click on the ‘Dash Board’ tab and check under deployments. See the Centre where you have been assigned to execute your duties.
  3. The table below will be displayed;

  4. Under the ‘Actions’ column, click on the ‘Download Appointment Letter’ link to get your letter.

KCSE, KCPE 2020 exams in numbers.

Apart from the 286,000 professionals who will be contracted to man the exams, the number of examination centres has also steadily risen. For instance, 28,451 KCPE exam centres will be used; up from the current 27,809 centres that were used in 2019.

 Similarly, 1.2 million KCPE candidates will sit for the 2020 exams compared to 1.088 in 2019. On the other hand, the candidature for KCSE increased from 699,745 (in 2019) to over 752,000 (in 2020); who are to sit for their exams in 10,437 centres compared to 10,287 centres in 2019.

 The number of special needs students sitting for their KCPE this year stands at 2,689 while those enlisted for KCSE are 1,891.

 “Knec has prepared examinations for students with different disabilities namely the blind, low vision, hearing impairment and the physically challenged so that they will not be inconvenienced during the exam,” Adds the Council.

 On the other hand, 479 containers will be used to store KCPE examination materials while, 468 containers will be used for KCSE. These containers are spread across all sub-counties in the country.
