It will now not be easy for you to pursue a degree in education without meeting set minimum grades in Mathematics and English. According to the requirements from the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), a candidate must have to score at-least a C (plain) in English to undertake any teaching degree programme. This is in addition to the minimum cluster points set by respective universities.
A student will also have to score a minimum of a D+ (plus) in Mathematics so as to be admitted to a Bachelor of Education (Arts) course. Those seeking to be science teachers must score a minimum of a C (plain) in Mathematics and a C+ (plus) in any of the Sciences offered at high school.
The above requirements will lock out many Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) graduates intending to pursue teaching related courses.

The school is located in Kilifi County,Rabai Sub-County,Kambe-Ribe Ward off Mombasa- Mazeras Kaloleni road. The school occupies 16.4 hectares. It was started by Missionaries as a boarding Primary school in 1940. In 1952 the school was split into two, Ribe Boys and Ribe Girls Intermediate. In 1963, the two schools were merged into a co-educational secondary School Institution as Ribe Secondary School with Mr. Ross Wells as its first headmaster.
In 1989, the school was once again split into two separate secondary schools: Ribe Boys and Ribe Girls.
The main buildings, classes and administration block were inherited by Ribe Boys next to Ribe Methodist Church Station and Ribe Girls had to occupy some old buildings that formerly belonged to what was Ribe Teachers Training College which was relocated to the present day Shanzu Teachers College and Ribe Girls was born.
The crop of students who trans-located from the Old Ribe sat for their first ‘O’ level in the same year 1989.Ever since Ribe Girls Secondary School has been going strong in promoting girl child education .
Currently, the school has 5 streams in Form 1 and 4 streams for form 2,3 and 4 with a population of over 800 students, 38 teaching staff, and 24 support staff.

When will the KUCCPS portal be opened?
The KUCCPS portal is always open but the application has not yet started.They have not yet uploaded your cluster points so you cannot do anything till they do that.You will only find your results when you login.You will do the first revision once they upload your cluster points.Once the portal is open for application you will be notified.However,the cluster points will be updated this month in order for the application process to begin.
How do I login to the KUCCPS portal?
KUCCPS have their own website.Once you enter the website you will just enter your KCSE index number in full(11 digits),KCSE year and password.Use your birth certificate number or KCPE index number(as used in KCSE exam registration) as your initial password.Click on login once done.
Does KUCCPS offer sponsorship to students?
No.KUCCPS does not offer sponsorship to students.Its role is to process and place students who will be sponsored by the government to various universities,colleges and technical institutions.The institution that offers loans directly to students is HELB.
If I’m placed in a private university,will I still benefit from government’s sponsorship?
Yes.The government sponsors students in both private and public universities as long as they apply to those institutions through KUCCPS.
Which universities offer government sponsorship programmes?
Universities,colleges and tertiary institutions that you can apply for admission under government sponsorship programme are listed in the KUCCOS student portal page.
How do I know KUCCPS course subject requirement?
If you select a course in KUCCPS and start applying,it will show you the subject required to do that course and whether you qualify to do that course or not.
Can I apply for one course in KUCCPS revision?
During KUCCPS revision,you can apply for a maximum of six degree courses and four diploma and certificate courses of your choice.You will however be placed for one course.
